I have read Black Flame by Gerelchimeg Blackcrane and it is a story about a purebred Tibetan Mastiff and how he is sold from his home- the grasslands. He meet Han Ma, whom he is inspired by his loyalty only to be separated from him again. Although this book will appeal for people who likes dogs, there was nothing special about this book; this leaves me thinking about the reason for choosing this book for the Red Dot Reading Challenge. Maybe because they wanted a Asian themed book.
Altogether I score this book a 6/10

Thanks for this excellent review Sahil. I have to admit I haven't yet read this book- I found the cover very unappealing and although I know one shouldn't judge a book by its cover the book doesn't really sell itself, I think I will now read it to find out more and will be interested to hear what others think.

I Finished and I LOVED it. 9 1/2 out of 10. I loved the character of Kelsang and how valiant he is.

I might redesign the cover on a graphic design website or write on a post it note that it is not as it looks. I am currently reading roof toppers.

I have just finished reading black flame. It was a story about a Mastiff called Kelsang who gets separated from his shepherd and finds another person called Han Ma who he feels like he should belong with. But he soon gets separated and goes on a journey to find him.
My favourite part was when Kelsang was on a train.
I give this book 6.5/10
