I gave this book a go, and it was boring at first, but then it got more interesting. Matteo meeting Sophie. The fight with the gariers. Sophie (spoiler alert ) meeting her mum again.

I think rooftoppers is an interesting book. It is about a child who is orphaned and then adopted who goes to paris to search for her mother. There she meets the rooftoppers.I would reccomend it to people wholike a different style of writing.

Thanks Aarit. Sounds like this might not be your usual kind of book to read so shows how sometimes it is good to take a risk and try something a little different. You are right - it is written in a quirky style and Sophie is quite an individual character. It is what is sometimes called magical realism.

I think that Rooftoppers is a highly emotional book because it made me not want to stop reading it. It was about a girl called Sophie who has been adopted by a person called Charles. She was found in a cello case after a boat that her mother and father were in sunk to the bottom of the ocean. My favourite character was Charles because he was very protective over Sophie and worked day and night to try and find Sophie's mother. I mostly enjoyed the part where Sophie was introduced to Mateo's home because there were so many small details that kept me wanting to read more. If I were rewriting Rooftoppers I would only change the start, where somebody says that she will take Sophie away from Charles because he is not capable of looking after her properly, to making her start looking for her mother because she really wants to. I would reccomend this story because it is gripping and you will find it hard to put it down.

I read Rooftoppers by Katherine Rundell and it is about a girl named Sophie who is supposedly orphaned when her mother drowned in a sinking ship and is found by a scholar called Charles who had survived the ship and saw her in a cello case, floating is the sea. Charles takes care of her but the National Childcare Agency demands that Sophie is taken to a orphanage, which makes Charles and Sophie run away to Paris in hope of finding her mother. There Sophie meets some sky urchins or rooftoppers, and they help them guide to her mother even with the Gariers in their way. Katherine Rundell has a very unique style of writing, and my favourite part is the message Katherine Rundell is sending and it's repetition throughout the book: never to ignore a life possible. My favourite Red Dot book so far, I give it a 10/10

Rooftoppers is an amazing book. I really like the ending because it ends with Sophie finding her mother and I feel a bit sad that there is no sequel. My favourite character is Sophie, because she doesn't give up and doesn't ignore a possible which is a skill that not many people have. I give Rooftoppers a 10/10!
